Ohio Honey Apple tart

Fall time means a trip to the apple orchard! Fuji apples are my absolute favorite because they are crisp, juicy, and sweet. This apple tart is my go-to dessert to make because it is simple and oh so easy! My friend had sent me a recipe a while ago but now I just eyeball everything and it always comes out delicious.appletart-2

  • 2 Apples (These are fuji apples rom Lynd Fruit Farm)
  • Raw Honey (I use Honeyrun Farm brand, Ohio made & bought at Whole foods)
  • puff pastry (in the freezer section of the grocery store)
  • brown sugar
  • cinnamon
  • 1 tsp butter
  • wax paper, baking tray

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Cut apples into thin slices and place in bowl
  3. Add brown sugar and cinnamon to taste
  4. Place puff pastry on wax paper on top of a baking tray
  5. Use a fork to poke 10 holes into the puff pastry. Use the edge of the fork to make a design on the outer edge of the puff pastry
  6. Arrange the apples on the tart
  7. Melt butter in microwave and brush onto the tart
  8. Bake until crust is golden brown (about 12-15 minutes)
  9. Take out and brush with honey
  10. Place back into oven for a couple minutes until desired color
  11. Cool, cut….and ENJOY! It is especially yummy with a scoop of ice cream : )

This tart always comes out beautiful and is a crowd pleaser! In the summer I make a mixed fruit tart with local apples + nectarines, white peaches, or pears. Who else loves using local Ohio products?
