Fall time means a trip to the apple orchard! Fuji apples are my absolute favorite because they are crisp, juicy, and sweet. This apple tart is my go-to dessert to make because it is simple and oh so easy! My friend had sent me a recipe a while ago but now I just eyeball everything and it always comes out delicious.
Ingredients:
- 2 Apples (These are fuji apples rom Lynd Fruit Farm)
- Raw Honey (I use Honeyrun Farm brand, Ohio made & bought at Whole foods)
- puff pastry (in the freezer section of the grocery store)
- brown sugar
- cinnamon
- 1 tsp butter
- wax paper, baking tray
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Cut apples into thin slices and place in bowl
- Add brown sugar and cinnamon to taste
- Place puff pastry on wax paper on top of a baking tray
- Use a fork to poke 10 holes into the puff pastry. Use the edge of the fork to make a design on the outer edge of the puff pastry
- Arrange the apples on the tart
- Melt butter in microwave and brush onto the tart
- Bake until crust is golden brown (about 12-15 minutes)
- Take out and brush with honey
- Place back into oven for a couple minutes until desired color
- Cool, cut….and ENJOY! It is especially yummy with a scoop of ice cream : )
This tart always comes out beautiful and is a crowd pleaser! In the summer I make a mixed fruit tart with local apples + nectarines, white peaches, or pears. Who else loves using local Ohio products?
