Balboa in Grandview: Fresh Street Corn

Calling all patio lovers: head to Balboa, the new hip place to be in the midst of Grandview! Warmer weather is here and Balboa is a great restaurant + bar to enjoy a drink and soak up the sun. If you’re not a big fan of the heat then you can stay cool on the swing located inside the restaurant. The layout and atmosphere is very reminiscent of Cantina – minus all the Park Street craziness. (Who else is feeling a little too old for that scene?)

Sophia and I tried many of the menu appetizers and tacos. Although we were not big fans of the tacos, we will definitely come back for the Balboa street corn: grilled corn on the cob with cojita cheese, lime mayo, and chili powder. The corn is sweet and juicy with some charred flavoring from the grilling. The cheese, butter, and other seasonings are the perfect toppings to add in salty + umami tastes. This appe-teaser was definitely a favorite among our other blogger friends!

We also recommend the short rib skewers for meat that melts in your mouth. Top that off with a blueberry basil margarita and you are set for a happy tummy!

Fun fact: Balboa is a sibling to Bodega and the soon to be Hadley’s!
