A weekend well enjoyed thanks to The Renaissance Hotel Downtown Columbus & Latitude 41 restaurant. The newly renovated room and the views gave great city vibes. Even though I was still in Columbus, my experience felt like a mini getaway trip.
My favorite place in the hotel? Their rooftop pool + lounge area!
Our last dining experience at Latitude 41 (inside the hotel) was during the fall, so we were excited to try their summer menu. The chefs use locally sourced produce and ingredients whenever they can. Our dinner started off with an “amuse bouche” (French for mouth amuser), a one bite appetizer, which was a fried baby eggplant accompanied with a carrot sauce and squash puree. Oh, can’t forget the quail egg on top! The eggplant was hearty and the sauces added a very earthy taste.
I ordered the scallops for my entree and it was delectable. Although normally accompanied with barley, I opted to try this dish with their pea risotto — definitely the right decision. The risotto was creamy and the peas were soft, but not mushy. The large scallops had a nice balance of seafood flavor + butter. MMMMM butter. The microgreens were a fun and pretty addition… plus they remind me of four leaf clovers!
My favorite drinks are the kind that taste like juice, but leave me with a nice buzz. The sangria did just that! It was a nice light drink to accompany the summer meal.
It was a weekend to remember. I definitely will miss the comfy bed and the pool! I really enjoyed walking around the hotel and discovering more parts of downtown as well. Hopefully we get to enjoy another staycation there in the future!
I know it’s supposed to be one bite…but I’d take a 6 pack of those little eggplant quail egg bites, yum!
