7 hours and 15 days with The Reno Reserve

This drink, “7 hours and 15 days”, is brought to you by The Reno Reserve. Yes, it is in fact a cocktail. Yes, it seems too pretty to drink. Yes, the flowers are edible. This cocktail was made by the very talented Derek Reno, man of The Reno Reserve, which is a cocktail consultancy here in Columbus.

Derek crafted this drink for the Photos + Friends workshop that KLife hosted with photographer, Esther Jung, to help local businesses learn phone photography tips. It was a great event and we were excited to show Derek’s talents off to the other attendees!

The title of this concoction pays tribute to the late Prince, so of course it had to be purple! “7 hours and 15 days” is a song originally by Prince and made popular by Sinead O’Connor. Derek, who was very proud to share this drink with us, was inspired by Prince’s integrity to himself and to his music. Here’s the recipe for you to enjoy:

7 hours and 15 days

  • 1.5 oz Watershed Four Peel Gin
  • .5 oz Art In The Age “Sage” Liquor
  • .5 oz Creme de Violette
  • .5 oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
  • .5 oz Fresh Lemon
  • .25 oz Housemade Sage Syrup
  • 2-3 dashes Housemade Lavender Bitters
If you’re out on the town you can find Derek’s work at Denmark on High where he also bartends. Great news! He works private events! Anytime anyone says they need a bartender for a party or other social event I love referring them to The Reno Reserve.

I had the pleasure of meeting Derek last year and it was quite clear the talent and creativity he has for mixology. His creations are some of the best drinks I have had. Everything that he does is with passion – from teaching others about classic cocktails to making drinks with his own flair. Each drink I’ve had from him is innovative, aesthetically pleasing, but most importantly…delicious!
